BACKGROUND
Bonnie Briar is a classic club with a rich heritage. Just 30 minutes from Manhattan, it’s friendly, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere offers a diverse mix of cultures to its memberships. With a beautifully renovated Tillinghast/Emmet golf course, equal golf rights for men and women, and first-class tennis & pool facilities, Bonnie Briar offers a traditional yet family-friendly club experience.
Chambers was brought in to develop a long- term plan for Bonnie Briar that addresses two critical needs: (1) tackle years of deferred maintenance and (2) implement a plan for new and expanded member-driven amenities.
OUR APPROACH
The enhancements will better leverage the Club’s competitive advantages: its superior practice facilities, family-oriented programs and strong instructional emphasis. A new Golf & Tennis Performance Center will replace the current tennis shed, offering indoor/outdoor simulator bays, a shape-shifting putting area, a bar/lounge area, restrooms, a new tennis pro shop and a large outdoor deck.
A new Paddle & Pickleball Hut will complement the paddleball courts, offering member’s a year-round social, camp and league competition facility with opportunity for growth in the future. This facility features an indoor/outdoor fireplace and fire pits on the deck, a comfortable lounge area, flexibility to host private events, restrooms, and an office for the paddle sports pro.
A new pool complex will offer six lap lanes for free swim, interactive water features in the zero-entry area and a dedicated splash pad in a separate area for young children. The expanded pool deck will accommodate an expanded number of chaise lounges and features a wood pergola for shade.
Improvements will also be made to the clubhouse, including repairs to the façade, an updated kitchen, a new women’s restroom by the lower terrace, as well as aesthetic upgrades to the dining room and improved finishes throughout the clubhouse.
