BACKGROUND

A long-time client of Chambers, The Country Club of York has a history of planning ahead for the future and maintaining a focus on elevating the overall member experience. After assisting the Club in 2012 with a major clubhouse renovation that focused on the member dining experience and clubhouse entry, Chambers was thrilled to be involved with the next evolution of this 126-year-old club’s journey.

PHASE ONE – NEW POOL COMPLEX & CLUBHOUSE UPGRADES

Considering member feedback and priorities, as well as infrastructural and operational needs, Chambers developed a plan to elevate the pool experience (including addressing existing infrastructure issues with the swimming pool), develop an all-day, fast-casual poolside dining venue, and aesthetically upgrade the Ladies Locker Room, Ballroom, Member Lounge and Restrooms.

The new pool complex features a brand-new, 4-lane lap pool combined with a zero-entry recreational pool with interactive water sprouts, pool slide, and a basketball net. Umbrella-covered pool loungers provide ample shaded lounge space surrounding the pool, and a terraced green space with lawn games allows for nearby recreational play. Nearby, the previous baby pool area now features a splash pad covered by a large shade sail, providing relief from the sun throughout the day. Renovations to the existing pool building and snack bar now allow for expanded poolside dining, as well as an enhanced experience in the pool changing rooms.

PHASE TWO –  SOUTH LAWN GRILLE

A later phase of this long-term plan will include enhancing and expanding the outdoor dining experience and South Lawn Grill, as well as the development of a Golf Simulator Lounge for year-round utilization.

RESULTS

The grand opening of the pool complex occurred just in time for Memorial Day 2025 and the members couldn’t be more pleased. In fact, pool area utilization has tripled in the 2025 pool season compared to prior seasons!
