Creative Teams Align to Bring Value to Western States

Chambers—a 122-year-old national planning, architecture and design firm that specializes in lifestyle design for private clubs and communities—has announced a collaborative partnership with DTJ Design (DTJ)—a multi-discipline design firm based in Boulder, Atlanta, Austin, and Dallas with over 55 years of experience in community design, leisure destinations, urban regeneration, and mixed-use facilities.

As the firm’s growth continues, Chambers is aiming to expand its outreach in the western half of the country. DTJ’s design team is known for integrating landscape with the built environment—a strong complement to Chambers’ expertise in sustainable lifestyle design for private clubs and communities across the country. After collaborating on multiple projects, both firms’ leadership teams were eager to explore the capabilities of both firms aligning to form one team for certain projects and clients.

“Our teams began working together in Arizona and Colorado, and we quickly realized how much natural synergy existed between the cultures and processes of our two firms,” said Chambers’ President and CEO Rick Snellinger. “DTJ’s geographic expertise in that area combined with our knowledge of private clubs and communities came together to form a powerful creative team for our clients. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Steve James—one of DTJ’s founding principals—agrees. “Both firms take a thoughtful, holistic approach to designing spaces that elevate user experiences and enhance amenity offerings,” he remarked. “We’re able to leverage the unique experience of our separate disciplines, and bolster the areas where our services overlap to create meaningful environments that are both beautiful and functional.”

The collaborative process has already had a positive impact on clients that have worked with both teams. “The DTJ-Chambers team has been an ideal fit for us at Desert Mountain,” says Damon DiOrio, CEO. “Both firms work seamlessly with one another and are deeply committed to providing outstanding design and exceptional service. It has been a pleasure collaborating with them.”

Going forward, both firms will continue to operate as separate companies, but remain committed to exploring opportunities for their teams to come together for collaborative planning and design efforts in western states when and where appropriate.
