Description of the Project:
The Pines at Davidson, in Davidson , North Carolina , is a highly regarded regional retirement community campus located in the resort-like area north of Charlotte , close to beautiful Lake Norman . It is an area of year-round golf and other outdoor recreation and attracts sophisticated, active people from the entire East Coast. The residents at the Pines reflect this demographic.
Chambers was contracted to provide a full Furnishings, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) program and to reflect on and influence the architectural program of the renovation and addition to this outstanding community. The Pines residents take full advantage of the upscale independent living facilities as well as the skilled nursing facilities and the Alzheimer's unit. Chambers worked closely with management, staff and, most importantly, residents to provide a unique environment completely designed to enhance the retirement community experience, making it beautifully residential as well as efficient and functional.
Just one example of Chambers depth of commitment to the project is that several sample chairs were produced for the residents to use in the dining rooms so that seat height, width and depth, upholstery firmness and, of course, design, were acceptable, welcoming, and comfortable. These seating specifications were then used throughout the hospitality areas, such as formal and informal dining rooms, smaller lounges, and indoor recreational spots for cards and other games. And, the Chambers' designed variations in hospitality areas ensure that each resident is able to enjoy variety when dining and gathering with friends.
Chambers also designed and incorporated a subtle method, using color, pattern, and architectural details, thereby providing a creative approach of way-finding. The project resulted in a residential community thoroughly enjoyed by both Staff & The Residents.
