In 1899, the Chambers family founded a wallpapering and
painting business in Baltimore, Maryland. Initially serving
churches and synagogues, the company attracted residential
clients and began offering interior design and furnishings
services.
By the 1930’s, Chambers was playing a major role in the
development of the new field of comprehensive interior design
and space planning – concepts that gradually earned the
favor of business and industry.
In the early 1950’s, Chambers was commissioned as the first
interior space planners for commercial real estate in
Baltimore. Over the next four decades, the company’s
client list grew to include corporations, private clubs,
hotels, hospitals, and nursing homes.
Chambers added in 1994 a team of in-house architects - as the disciplines of interior design and architecture began
to converge – one of the first design firms to do so. This ultimately
lead to the creation of Chambers Architectural Associates
which, together with the H. Chambers Company enables us to
provide turnkey solutions for clients worldwide.
More recently, in January 2006, Chambers relocated to a new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters within Montgomery Park Business Center, just a few blocks from Baltimore's Inner Harbor attractions. The Chambers office environment houses a professional staff that welcomes national and international clientele to use one of the nation's largest resource and technical centers dedicated to excellence in design.
