Description of the Project:

The Terraces at Edenwald, a major 12-story tower addition to the successful Edenwald Retirement Community Campus in Towson , Maryland , is a current Chambers' Senior Living Project with a May 2008 completion date. Chambers was engaged to provide a complete Furnishings, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) program to include lobbies, corridors, dining rooms and other hospitality spaces such as health lounges and spas and functioning staff spaces, such as reception desks, nursing stations and medical storage rooms.

Chambers' effectively interpreted the requirements of the Edenwald staff, the general directives of the management firm, and the needs of a varied senior adult community, primarily those living independently, although with two floors for those requiring the specialized attentions of assisted living.

The design directive was for a classic aesthetic interpreted through an overall contemporary style, an interesting departure for retirement communities where more typically a traditional approach is used. Chambers incorporated materials that not only effectively met that design directive, but that were used in ways that created a thoroughly residential, well-appointed environment throughout the public spaces in the tower. A rich color palate, varying textures and patterns, a residentially-inspired decorative lighting program, beautifully-appointed window treatments, and a cohesive art and accessories program created a harmonious and distinctive environment, not only appreciated by the residents but functional for all levels of staff.
