BACKGROUND

"The spirit of the private club is nowhere better expressed than through the Charlotte Country Club" offers Rick Snellinger, CEO of Chambers. When the club began to position itself for the decades to come it chose to emphasize the historic Donald Ross golf course and golf facilities, to adapt the club house to reflect the gracious culture of the club and to offer a full range of family-oriented recreational activities.

The spirit of the private club is nowhere better expressed than through the Charlotte Country Club.

OUR APPROACH

Chambers worked with a planning committee chosen by Charlotte Country Club to develop the primary design, sequence the restoration of the clubhouse, and develop the financial modeling needed to achieve the goals. Although the club’s by-laws did not require membership approval for the expenditure of capital, Chambers kept the members informed of the process through town-hall style meetings— achieved 90 percent approval among club members for the renovation program.

RESULTS

The majority of the Master Plan was completed in 2009, with particular emphasis on the restoration of the Donald Ross course and of the historic clubhouse. Chambers was asked by the club to interview and select the project architect, the contractor, and the construction supervisor, revealing the strong bond and trust that had developed between the club and the firm. Chambers  executed the Interior architecture, interior design, purchasing and installation while working closely with the project architect, contractor and construction supervisor to ensure the successful completion of the entire project.
