Chambers Selected to Design New Greenville Country Club Clubhouse

Baltimore-based Chambers, a 360° club planning, architecture and interior design firm, has been selected to design a new, 40,000 square-foot clubhouse at Greenville Country Club in Greenville, SC. The club’s board of directors selected Chambers from among a nationally competitive field. The firm previously worked with Greenville’s board to develop long-term strategic and facilities plans for the club and gained overwhelming member approval for a funding program to finance capital projects and club improvements.

The existing clubhouse at Greenville will be torn down and replaced with a new, modernized facility. It was determined that renovation and repair of the existing clubhouse would be cost prohibitive; the structure was also not well suited to adapting to address trends driving the club industry. The new clubhouse will incorporate, among other things, a more efficient kitchen, flexible event and meeting spaces, outdoor dining, a family activities center and more.

“The Greenville Country Club project is a perfect example of how clubs across the country are modernizing to serve the needs of their members and the changing ways they want to use and enjoy the club,” said Chambers' President and CEO Rick Snellinger. “Greenville has been very aggressive in evolving to cater to families, especially,” said Snellinger. “This clubhouse will enable them to further expand their offerings and to gain efficiencies, too,” he said, continuing, “all while maintaining the club’s rich history and tradition.”

The architecture and interior design teams will be led by Chambers Executive Vice President Ryan Yakel, AIA, and Director of Interior Design Charlie Turner, ASID, NCIDQ, respectively, and represent a collaboration between the firm’s Baltimore and Dallas offices. Collins Project Management of Atlanta was selected to manage construction. Completion of the project is expected to take four years.
