Charlie Turner Chambers, a Baltimore-based planning, architecture and interior design firm specializing in private country, golf, city and yacht clubs, announced today that it has named Charlie Turner, ASID, NCIDQ, as Director of Interior Design.

Turner joins Chambers after years at two of Washington, D.C.’s most respected architecture and interior design firms, Hickok Cole Architects and ForrestPerkins. His portfolio of hospitality — including restaurants, spas, fitness centers, luxury hotels and resorts — as well as mixed-used and multi-family design, was an important draw for the venerable Chambers, which has been leading efforts in the private club industry to address changing tastes and lifestyles through smart planning and innovation.

“Charlie is an important addition to the Chambers team,” says Chambers Chairman and current head of its club interior design services, Robert Hickman. “We are very excited to be able to bring his perspective and level of creativity to the club industry, where the influence of trends in hospitality and even mixed-use design has become increasingly important as clubs are preparing for the next generations of members.”

Turner is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), The Hospitality Industry Network (NEWH), and is a certified Interior Designer through the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). He is also a graduate level adjunct professor, presently teaching at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C.

Chambers is a planning, architecture and interior design firm that specializes in innovative club planning and strategic facilities design for private country, golf, yacht and city clubs. Founded in 1899, Chambers has worked with hundreds of clubs nationwide, among them, Inverness Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama, winner of Golf Inc. magazine’s New Clubhouse of the Year award and the Charlotte Country Club in North Carolina, which also took honors from Golf Inc. for extensive renovation of its 100-year-old clubhouse. Other recent clients include Overlake Golf & Country Club in Seattle, the Country Club of Rochester in New York and the Westwood Country Club in St. Louis.

Chambers recently acquired CCI Club Design in Dallas, TX, adding to its client portfolio The Summit Club in Tulsa, OK and the Golf Club at Lansdowne in Leesburg, VA, both recipients of Excellence in Design Awards (for Interior Design and New Construction, respectively) from the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC). Other notable clients include the Petroleum Club of Ft. Worth, TX, the Sonatrach Petroleum Club in Algiers, Algeria, and the Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, ID.
