Chambers, a Baltimore-based planning, architecture and interior design firm specializing in private country, golf, city and yacht clubs, announced today that it has acquired CCI Club Design, also a club architecture, interior design and planning firm, based in Dallas, Texas.

CCI will become known as “Chambers” and will continue operations from its Dallas location. Chambers will remain headquartered in Baltimore. The acquisition will not result in job losses, both companies said.

“This is an exciting step forward for both Chambers and CCI,” said Rick Snellinger, president and CEO of Chambers. “Once friendly competitors, we’re now combining the tremendous talents of both firms to enhance the services we provide to our clients within the private club industry.” Chambers completed its first club project in 1945 and today is dedicated almost exclusively to planning and design for the industry; CCI was founded in 1973 and has since designed more than 500 clubs across the country. Together, the firm will provide strategic and master planning, operations consulting, architecture, interior design, food service design, purchasing and installation services to clubs nationwide.

“We’ve always admired Chambers’ first class work,” said CCI Chairman and CEO Harry Chris, AIA, who is retiring after more than 40 years in the club design business. “They were an ideal partner for CCI. I expect to see the combined companies flourish in an industry that continues to evolve and grow,” he said. Chris will retain ownership and operation of the Park City Club in Dallas.

Chambers is a full-service architecture and interior design firm that specializes in innovative club planning and strategic facilities design for private country, golf, yacht and city clubs. Founded in 1899, Chambers has worked with hundreds of clubs nationwide, among them, Inverness Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama, winner of Golf Inc. magazine’s New Clubhouse of the Year award and the Charlotte Country Club in North Carolina, which also took honors from Golf Inc. for extensive renovation of its 100-year-old clubhouse. Other recent clients include Overlake Golf & Country Club in Seattle, the Country Club of Rochester in New York and the Westwood Country Club in St. Louis.

Chambers is a Corporate Alliance Partner (CAP) of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA). CCI’s client portfolio includes The Summit Club in Tulsa, OK and the Golf Club at Lansdowne in Leesburg, VA, both recipients of Excellence in Design Awards (for Interior Design and New Construction, respectively) from the Association of Builders and Contractors (ABC). Other notable clients include the Petroleum Club of Ft. Worth, TX, the Sonatrach Petroleum Club in Algiers, Algeria, and the Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, ID.

Collectively, Chambers and CCI have won more than 100 national planning, architecture and design awards, including top honors from Interior Design Magazine (Chambers, Top 100 Design Giant since 1976), BoardRoom magazine (Chambers, Planning Firm of the Year, Clubhouse Design Firm of the Year; CCI, Clubhouse Architect of the Year, Clubhouse Interior Designer of the Year), the Resort & Recreation Magazine Design Showcase award (CCI), Golf Inc. (Chambers, Clubhouse of the Year) and National Association of Homebuilders (CCI, Grand Award for Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club in Bradenton, FL).
