Chambers Receives Golden Fork Award for Renovations at Cape Fear Country Club

Golf Inc. Magazine has awarded Chambers with a 2017 Golden Fork Award for their work at Cape Fear Country Club in Wilmington, North Carolina. Golf Inc.’s annual Golden Fork Awards honor the most improved dining facilities at both private and public golf and country clubs.
Chambers' work at Cape Fear Country Club was based on the results of a comprehensive Membership Survey conducted during the Club’s master planning efforts. The plan rebalanced the Clubhouse's dining spaces to incorporate a designated adult casual dining venue, family dining spaces, and a properly sized bar/lounge. This aspect of the plan responded to the Membership’s need for a spontaneous dining atmosphere at the Club. In fact, the new Wine Room has sparked substantial growth in the Club’s wine program, which currently has a waiting list for wine lockers. The plans also introduced an “ultra-casual dining” facility within the new, standalone Member Activity Center – a 20,000 SF facility that answered the growing needs of the Club’s family programs and recreational amenities.
“This was an ambitious project that really showcased our firm’s versatility,” said Chambers’ Director of Planning John Snellinger, who oversaw the project’s master planning efforts. “We created a whole new experience for Cape Fear Country Club’s Members that not only responded to their needs but also incorporated private club trends that we are finding throughout the country. We really valued the opportunity to be a part of this Club’s transformation and are honored to be acknowledged by Golf Inc.”
This is not the first time that the firm has been honored with the publication’s esteemed award. Last year, Chambers also won the Golden Fork Award for most improved dining spaces at a private facility for renovating the dining spaces at St. Clair Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.
